Eric was interviewed to explore the impact of AI on the human person and to understand how the Church's Social Doctrine can shed light on a number of critical choices to be made regarding the use of new technologies.
The technological world is evolving at a breathtaking pace, disrupting the way we live, work and communicate. This evolution raises numerous ethical questions that require urgent attention. The Church's position on artificial intelligence is still being developed. The Church's social doctrine is likely to evolve to take account of the new challenges and opportunities posed by AI.
In the interview with Permanences magazine, Eric Salobir Founder of Optic, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Human Technology Foundation as well as a member of the Conseil National du Numérique (CNNum), looks at these issues and stresses the importance of accelerating ethical reflection in the face of rapid developments in technology.
"The real question is how we look at our society in the mirror of these technologies, rather than what responsibilities we place on their shoulders instead of our own."
"It's good that the Magisterium is not too quick to set definitive definitive positions. On the contrary Christian thinking on these subjects, and constant dialogue with those with those involved in Tech."
"Ethics is more about managing conflicts of duties than absolutely saying right and wrong" - Éric Salobir, founder of Optic, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Human Technology Foundation and member of the French National Digital Council (CNNum).
