Colloquium “Person, soul and consciousness: Philosophical et Theological perspectives”
July, 13 2017 - Berkeley. In the framework of the Colloquium “Person, soul and consciousness: Philosophical et Theological perspectives” hosted by the Berkeley Dominican School of Theology and Philosophy, the OPtic Network will take part in the round table on “Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Consciousness”.
Artificial intelligence is nowadays one of the most common and disruptive technologies. It has the requirements to trigger deep changes on many aspects of human life, including transport, communication, education, medicine, law, leadership, finance, and war. Some people wonder whether an artificial intelligence could possibly reach one day perception of self. This panel will analyse some of the points raised by such revolutionary changes and whether these could be considered to be crucial for human life, including from the point of view of the philosophy and theology.
